This Show is Simply Amazing

Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end

Quote in title: Seneca “The big talent is persistence.” Octavia E. Butler  We continue. Evolution, it seems is also a spectrum What a fantastic, free for all, terrorising, brutal year. 2020 can wrap it up and go away….I’m done! 🙂 on with the show….no, not the shit show. It’s more like, let’s get it done…. remain kind! Hello art fans, I hope this post finds you safe and healthy. We have (knock on wood) remained COVID free. Our protocols have not changed since February 2020. We remain. We continue. The art work continues. Isolation is as it ever was…enlightening and absurd. Undeterred, by these myriad of obstacles, we push forward. Of course, the year has been hard for our art business, as many others across this nation and world. Our business will survive, if we do. I know so many that can not say that and it breaks my heart. This has been an enlightening

Freedom is the recognition of necessity.

Freedom is the recognition of necessity. Friedrich Engels Wow…2020? Who knew? It’s a hot mess, for sure. We are all living through the events of this year, so I won’t bother to recount, or document this current moment reality. Because, like, you know, right? We have spent the entire year in, well…..what now, mode. The artwork continued and we ended up with a whole lot of finished work that’s even been copyrighted. Our first completed body of work, together, as professional artists, and as an art duo even. We’ve been painting for years now, this is our first focused year with intention and direction on a single focus. No practicing, just doing. It’s been liberating and terrifying….this year is just full of gifts. “Expansion means complexity and complexity decay.” C. Northcote Parkinson After the loss of the entire season, including all the pre-paid costs, we finished The Simplicity Collection and thought about our options. Giving up

The center that I cannot find is known to my unconscious mind.

quote in the title: W.H. Auden Sometimes, poetry is the only way to describe, explain, distort and contort my present moments of now-ness. At 12 years old I started bleeding with the moonand beating up boys who dreamed of becoming astronauts.I fought with my knuckles white as stars, and left bruises the shape of Salem. There are things we know by heart, and things we don’t. At 13 my friend Jen tried to teach me how to blow rings of smoke.I’d watch the nicotine rising from her lips like halos, but I could never make dying beautiful. The sky didn’t fill with colors the night I convinced myselfveins are kite strings you can only cut free.I suppose I love this life, in spite of my clenched fist. I open my palm and my lifelines look like branches from an Aspen tree, and there are songbirds perched on the tips of my fingers, and I wonder if Beethoven held his breaththe first time

It is at the time of dawn that we must commune with the gods. *New Artwork to share 🙂

quote in title: Apollonius of Tyana New artwork – A New Day- Simplicity series #5 48″ x 48″ x 2″ oils HAWA 2020 Alleyvision We did it! We finished this monster of a work! lol It was so complicated, for being in the simplicity series. Just like us to take it to the next level. We spent over a month and 150 hours painting this one. We don’t have too much to say about it, except we prayed a lot during the work. We prayed for the whole world. We dreamed out loud. The dream of our future, the dream of our next work, the dreams we have for each other, the dreams we have for our kids. We also loved each other, it was so easy to speak kind words and share space while we worked on this one. It took a long time, yet felt effortless…. We felt like our hearts grew 2

It smoothly rolled out its simple message, “be here, now”. The sparkling turquoise sky, reflected in the river stream below, pulls your eyes into the magic. The shades of grey canyon walls, almost look like ancient dwellings, placed upon outcroppings of land. It is in the beauty of the simple joys of being alive that keep the engines churning over here. We are in a flow state at

New Art! Contemplation- HA! 2020- Alleyvision

“Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which nature herself is animated.” ~Auguste Rodin Contemplation This work started as a way for me to continue the lessons learned in “Water Dancer“. This work had no original drawing, it was all done spontaneously, in a stream of consciousness. Scale was not considered, I wasn’t interested in reality, just the gentle push of, “yeah, that feels good.” Allowing what is I practiced allowing, what is, to just be. Be here, be big, be tedious, be simply complicated and to be soft, like butterfly kisses. It became what it wanted to be. In the end, so did I. I think that is a good thing. I enjoyed this work, I felt rested everytime I came to it and surprisingly, when I left it each day. The work was hard and satisfying. Resting is work
