Monday Art Call What's on the easel?

Hello and Good Monday to you all, I hope you had a good weekend.

We spent most of the time working around the house/studio, still trying to get everything sorted out and moved into place…moving, sheesh! It was so hot this weekend  here, in Portland, we don’t get a lot of really hot weather so everyone here felt like we were gonna die. I spent a lot of time last week writing and recording so the painting was limited…but of course there was painting! Wanna see? Ok here we go…release the art…

Flower Girls 2

“Flower Girls 2″ oils on canvas board 16″ x 20” HA! 2016

So, flower girls…yup, flower girls. I was reading poetry and getting my mo-jo worked up when they stopped by for a visit. The little one is full of spunk, she just chatted up a storm, she is witty and snarky. Wonderful friend to take with you anywhere…you know the kind of people that bring the life of the party with them? Yup, that’s her…the tall one…she is a little quiet, until you get to know her. She is very kind and she never forgets to bring the good wine. Gotta love these girls, they brighten up any day.  They are available for purchase as soon as they are dry…and I finish the last few details, of course. 🙂 –>BRAVE HEART ART – name your price, get your art.

Surprise! That is a picture of Mr. Oswald West, aka Mr. Stinky Pants, my best buddy and studio mate.  He says, “Happy Monday…my mom is outta cookie treats, it’s a travesty! Look at me! I am too cute to go without cookies. Send cookies or the cat gets it, don’t be fooled, I’m nine pounds of terror! I say Good Day!”

He’s a piece of work that one…squirrels and cookies… he is too damn cute so we continue with the art…. I hope you are smiling now. 🙂

Double Dog

Ok, this is my new WIP. this is the oil sketch phase so they look all weird with the under-painting.  I am calling her “Come on, Universe. I Double Dog…”. oils on canvas 24″ x 30″ x 2″

What’s going on here? We were laying in the sun, catching some rays (lord knows she needs it)…put the music up in the studio and listened to some good old rock-n-roll. She’s pretty… she likes her music loud and the margarita’s strong. Before long she was topless and running around in just her towel and then, when she was stretching in the shade of the giant maple tree, I spotted her tattoo. Cracked me up. I wonder what she means by that?  Might want to keep your eye on her. 🙂

That’s all from me this last week’s history. I am working on a lot of the poetry, this week…recording and editing. I also will be painting here and there.

I will NOT be over thinking all my problems, looking for solutions from  outside of myself, or beating myself up for not having everything under control…it’s a goal. Show up, do the work, no apologies, I am not ashamed of what I really am…a hard working, all heart, fierce in soul…human. Bang that Gong, work continues.

Good Lord those pieces are POWERFUL!!! I mean POWERFUL!!! Gracious. I love underpainting. It shows a paintings history, it shows the layers of life and shows that nothing is one dimensional, there’s something more than what we have in front of us. I know I read a lot into art but for me that’s what underpainting feels like. It feels like the paintings history. I love it. There is a lot of under texture in my work. I’m a layering kind of girl. Anyway, absolutely love, love, love the flower girls but the girl with the tattoo is incredible. At first I didn’t realize it was her back. I though the tattoo was over her heart. Even still it’s breath taking. Love the gradients, her skin tone, her hair. You nailed it Ha! Ya nailed it.
