it's Monday, your art called

to remind you to 1. don’t bite the dog

2. don’t forget that important thing you always forget and

3. buy some original art, because 9 out of 10 guru’s agree…that’s all just 9 out of 10 guru’s, agreeing.

Hey y’all, it’s Monday again and the gear’s they keep a grinding don’t they? Over here at the studio, things are really shaping up. Bill hung a lot of the WIP’s up in the studio and started setting up the music equipment. It’s totally fabulous up in here and it’s a wonderful space to dream new dreams in. Here are a few pictures, because…well, pictures!

This is everyone’s favorite room…the game room a must for a house full of men! πŸ™‚

See? it’s coming right along. πŸ™‚

We have been making art too, of course. Here’s a new one, almost finished… I think…I’m calling it “the Tempest” oils 16″ x 20″ (read the story after the pictures)

I was just minding my own business, painting pretty candy colored clouds and she appeared outta no where. With a wave of her hand she made seasons change and freed the wild woman trapped inside a good girl. Like a firefly, she poked all the sore spots. Like an angel she cut bonds that bind, freeing herself from the story of her past. The future all soft and full of pony-tailed potential, she breaths in the unknown and laughs at the fear in her belly. Sovereign woman free of her story, now savoring creative uncertainty not looking back anymore, knowing the beauty of what she learned, is what colors her hopeful future, in this now. She is on her way.

She doesn’t need approval, she has confidence in the fail, that’s where she keeps withdrawing all her wisdom from. It’s her secret weapon.

This next one…well she too has an origin story. I told you one of the secrets inside my work are the words I write on the canvas before I start the painting. This canvas has these words on it, as the work begins: I will not behave!, No Master, I Am Beast and Viva Fire Belly. πŸ™‚

Drinking coffee and listening to monks chanting while contemplating what to do when the current retro-grade cycle ends and everything goes back to being your own fault…damn…looks peaceful at least…the struggle started as soon as the thought became clear…peaceful? “I am Beast,” she whispered from off the edge, “and I am coming to wake you up.”

Next morning I woke up full of get it done energy. She showed up before the coffee could get cold. She speaks in this soft whisper that reminds me of a Mother’s low warning growl. I felt the need to unburden myself of the fears, the worries, the past pain’s and share some of my story with her. She listened deeply as the hours flew by. I felt worn out from the unloading and uploading. That’s when she started talking….

She sang a timeless song called “I don’t know what I’m doing and I am compelled to keep doing it.” She told a fable of an Emperor with no clothes that said “fuck it, I like the wind on my bare butt”, painted himself blue and tattooed a large bulls-eye on his back with the words “I double dog dare you” under it.

She called the stars for lunch. Pulled out the prayer beads after she licked her fingers clean. Β We spent the afternoon with Cat Stevens and Jackson Brown. She has good taste in music, she demanded Joni Mitchell be played after Doctor Hook and we giggled over the silliness of modern day puritanical pursuits in clean living and enlightened paranoia. She finally wore me out and we called it a night. As she left for parts unknown, she pushed the wine across the table and sang “I will not behave, Viva fire belly” to the tune “I feel pretty….Oh so, pretty.” Next time we meet my star lady, we will finish this dance, strong. Until then…

I hope you enjoyed yourΒ Monday art call…now while you are all fired up, why not stop over on the Brave Heart Art Page and make me an offer you can afford for a painting you love. We will get it all professionally packed up for you and then I will skip to the art supply and spend whatever you gave me to get paint and brushes. It has actually reached a crisis point…we are out of white paint. The horror is real people. Bang a gong. I can’t keep rocking this universe without paint…dude(s) like, for real.

Here is a meme I liked: Be well. Be You. We need you out here. In case your mind is playing tricks on you…I love you, you are valuable and you really do have a super fine ass. πŸ™‚

Big love to all, always,

Thank you for supporting living artists everywhere <3

Do you find it more conducive to creativity? My setup right now is dire, one day I will have a writing room πŸ™‚

I do! I’ve always made a little space for creating, even back when it was just a corner of the table we ate on…I’d lite a candle or make a little creative “nest”…now to have a room that is about nothing more than the pursuit of my passions…it’s like I walk into this room and my brain goes “we are now working” and we work…the flow is strong and we don’t have TV’s and the like in here…it’s just about living true to ourselves up in here…makes it hard to not do the work, which is good, in every way. πŸ™‚

Your space is awesome. …and cleaner than mine. 9 out of 10 guru’s agree (turns away jealous over your studio space) lol
I really like the figurative painting you did. I like the jagged lines in it, that has a nice feeling to it I think.

lol πŸ™‚ It’s only clean-ish because I just set it up, gimme 5 minutes and it’ll look like a proper hot mess. Thank you for the feedback on the painting…it’s one of those paintings that processes (me) it all, and it has me feeling all the vulnerability…of my new thing…immersion therapy. I’m gonna figure it out…I am. πŸ™‚ <3
