Reaching 1 is a departure work and this is it’s debut as “available”. WA? painted the beautiful water and sea grass. As we sat admiring it in the studio, I thought I saw a turtle that “should” live there. I mentioned this to WA? and he said, “well, I guess you’ll have to paint him in then.”

So, confession time. I’ve painted birds and fish…but I have not tackled “animals’ as of yet, anyway. I’ve been painting professionally for more than a decade and all together it’ll be 18 years this year. I am self taught in the arts so I have enjoyed an education that was tailored to my whims and interests. No one tells me what to paint or has ever shown me how (except Bob Ross, love you man). Galleries and agents, over the years, have asked me to paint more of this or more like that. I have always been a rebel and paint only from my own directives.

Animals are hard. Regal. Magic. Inspiring. Important. Varied. I have always wanted to find to space to explore them but wanted my skill sets to do them justice in my own mind. So…WA? blithely I might add, says,” just paint it.” The rubber meets the road every once in a while folks and I heard the screeching of tires and the smell of smoke in that silly, small moment. I have a motto…if I am scared of something…I. Simply. Must. Do It. I was scared folks…of a sea turtle. Yup. It took me two weeks to get ready to try. I did some research. I sat with the beautiful original I could potentially ruin. One day the sea turtle muse awoke. And so it is.

I feel pretty good about this venture, and it’s more special to me personally because its a collaborative with my man…and a conquering of an old fear/anxiety thing too. Hell yeah I can paint animals…watch me paint more in the future. 🙂 I am working on an elephant as I write this.

This turtle is a really nice guy. He is just exploring some, new- to- him sea grass and taking life in, as it comes. The sea grass is  lively, with hues of pink, purple, magenta, peach and hints of blue. Overall its a blushing bride of a painting, full of hopeful promise and naïve bravado; it’s quite the catch.

It will arrive with painted sides, ready to hang out of the professionally packed box with COA.

Shipping for this painting is free inside the USA and we are offering 50% off any shipping costs internationally. Please email the studio at alleyartstudio@outlook.com for more information.

Have a great day and thanks for being here.
